VBS REPORT

July 23, 2009

Greetings Church,

Wow! This VBS was so much fun. A special thanks and prayer for blessings to everyone that pitched in to make it a VBS to remember.

God bless you all for having attended the VBS. It was obviously a very special time for the children. And the adults were blessed too with a solid line up of speakers the three nights: Fred Rhodes, Zack Opheim, and Jeremy Folding. It was a lot of fun getting to visit with these guys and their families. Thanks to the families for showing hospitality by putting the speakers up for the night.

Hazel, my sweetheart, deserves a lot of thanks from everyone for all she did behind the scenes in the way of helping with lessons, scheduling, planning, purchasing, and working the crafts table. Thanks to Dawn for being there to help with the crafts each night. When Hazel wasn't working the crafts table, she was serving refreshments. I think she needs a rest after everything she's done in the last few weeks.

You teachers who volunteered right away to help are so appreciated. You devoted extra time to the cause and we all thank you. I know that God is pleased.

And thanks to Bill Wood for being his usual enthusiastic and fun leader. You were there early and stayed late. To God the glory for all the good that was done.

And if you missed Dan Nitz leading the children in his class, you missed something special. The guys got real talent with the children. Parents, go ahead and ask your children what they learned.

Also, we really appreciate the help Amy with her hubbie, Randy, gave to making the signs and the giant Goliath. The kids absolutely loved slinging their "rocks" at the giant.

Thanks to all of the ladies that baked cookies. Your home goodness was really appreciated.

Thanks to the young "escorts", Daniel, Priscilla, Ty, and Ashlee, who stayed with the kids and kept them with their groups. Their help was invaluable for keeping things working smoothly.

Thanks to Linda for putting together the list of kids for registration.

Vicki and Tom, you were right there at the registration table, early and waiting for the first children to arrive. Thanks for the colored hats that helped keep the groups of children separate.

Thanks to the men who got up front to participate in the singing. You had fun with it and made an indelible mark on the kids.

Thanks to you children and parents who came and brought friends to our VBS. That's what it was all about.

I have probably missed an important mention and I apologize if so, but God knows your part.

We had to put this VBS together very quickly because our helpers from Texas had to back out last minute. But I am being sincere (it's the only way I know to be) that this VBS was the best we have had. All the way around, great job everyone. I am going to put together a video and post it on the church's web site so be watching for that real soon.

Sincerely yours,
Dan Mayfield
